They look like normal glasses, Italian designer glasses at that. In actual fact, the Emilian start-up company, Glassup has developed a prototype for futuristic lenses with hidden powers: they can show you e-mails, texts, tweets, Facebook updates, and much more besides, meaning the wearer can keep up to date with everything going on in his or her world. And all weighing just 20 grams more than standard lenses.
Some examples? With GlassUp glasses you can get map info while driving, or descriptions of works of art and monuments while you are visiting a museum or a city. You can receive instructions while you are exercising or the translation of a phrase while you’re abroad. You can also check stock market info, weather forecasts and even check your apps from your glasses.
Messages and notifications are shown for just a few instants, alongside your field of vision, and in a non-invasive manner.
These “super-glasses” work based on a Bluetooth connection and a series of sensors and apps (Android, iOS, and hopefully Windows), that the user can choose according to the info they wish to receive. These glasses can only read and not send messages, meaning the wearer will still need to carry their device with them.
